BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) -- Buffalo is celebrating its football history and fandom Friday with a special evening honoring the 1964 and 1965 AFL Champion Buffalo Bills.
The event kicks off at 5 p.m. at the historic Rockpile gates at 1100 Jefferson Ave., where a permanent bronze plaque will be unveiled commemorating the back-to-back championship teams. Following the dedication, a roundtable discussion begins at 6 p.m. in the Johnny B. Wiley Pavilion, where surviving team members will discuss their experiences as Black and white teammates during the civil rights era.
Filmmaker Scott Rubin, co-director, writer, and star of Unbillievable! The Movie, said the roundtable and celebration are long overdue.
