A rogue trader who targeted elderly people and charged "extortionate" amounts has been jailed. One victim ended up paying £10,500 to have his garden gate repaired.

The 81-year-old victim was ripped off by Ryan Macdonald just weeks after the conman dodged a prison sentence after fleecing an elderly lady for £4,750 for clearing the gutters of leaves at her home.

On December 17 2024, Macdonald called at the 81-year-old victim’s address in Ellesmere Port, Cheshire, after going house-to-house in the area and asked if he needed any work doing.

The victim at first declined the offer but was then talked into having the arch above his side gate fixed.
