UPDATE: A sentencing hearing for former Tennessee State Representative Robin Smith, who was charged following a federal investigation, is underway on Friday.

Court records show that prosecutors are seeking a sentence that includes the minimum amount of jail time, a $10,000 fine and a mandatory special assessment of $100.

Smith pleaded guilty to one count of honest services fraud as part of a plea deal in March of 2022, following a federal investigation of a mail scheme that was launched in January of 2021, which also involved former House Speaker Glen Casada and his chief of staff Cade Cothren.
