Snap benefits are expected to come to a halt on November 1, and in true Oklahoma fashion, restaurants in the metro said on Thursday that they are opening their doors to furloughed federal workers and SNAP recipients.

"I felt that was very important to me because as a kid, I grew up on SNAP and I remember how hard it was for my mom to provide food for myself and my four siblings... So I just want to be able to give back and do my part," said Corey Harris, Owner and Operator of Corey B. Cookin’ Seafood & More.

Harris said starting Nov. 1, he will offer free bags of seasoned chicken, fish, potatoes, rice and vegetables.

He’s not the only restaurant owner who posted on social media offering food to those who are hungry.
