Authorities on Friday announced charges against a Warren police officer accused of embezzling funds from a charity dedicated to kids interested in law enforcement.
The officer, 29-year-old Jack Barnes, was an associate advisor for the Police Explorer Program, the Macomb County Prosecutor's Office said in a press release Friday.
"Our justice system does not bend for titles or badges," Macomb County Prosecutor Peter Lucido said in the release. "In Macomb County, the law applies equally to every individual. While charges have been brought, this defendant is entitled to the presumption of innocence, and that presumption remains unless and until a court determines otherwise."
