The Little Compton Town Council was expected to discuss and possibly vote on the passage of a homestead tax exemption for full-time residents Thursday.

Councilors have been considering an exemption to provide tax relief for residents who live in their homes full-time since a group of citizens proposed several options in a letter to the Sakonnet Times last month, and formally started discussions earlier this month.

During the council's previous discussion on the issue, Jim Locke of the Commons Foundation suggested an exemption that would be revenue-neutral, meaning that it would not have an impact on the town tax levy.
