A space in the downtown Millennium Library designed to help vulnerable people, including the homeless, has reopened after closing at the end of 2024.

The City of Winnipeg cut funding for the community connections hub in the 2025 budget, and the office closed Dec. 31. It was staffed with library and community crisis workers.

The province announced at a news conference Friday that the space is now called the Downtown Resource Corner. New and previously available services are being offered by provincial staff members and the Downtown Community Safety Partnership.

It will be open about 20 hours per week, primarily in the afternoons, with extended hours one evening each week.
