Farmers across India are awaiting the 21st instalment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme, which provides annual financial support of ₹6,000 to eligible farmers in three equal instalments of ₹2,000 each.
Media reports indicate that the central government may release the payment in the first week of November, though no official announcement has been made so far.
The timing coincides with the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections, scheduled for November 6 and 11, with counting on November 14. While the Model Code of Conduct restricts the launch of new schemes during elections, experts note that payments under existing programmes like PM-KISAN can be processed.
