LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) - The Office of Violence Prevention highlighted the progress made in decreasing violence in Louisville at the third annual summit on Friday.
Kentucky Lt. Gov. Jacqueline Coleman says when it comes to reducing gun violence, we are making progress in the Commonwealth, but we still have a long way to go.
“Violence is so prevalent in the community. Students at Central kind of feel desensitized,” said Central High School Senior Angelina Kalakon.
Students like Kalakon experience lockdowns so frequent, she tells WAVE it feels normal. At the third annual office of violence prevention summit, there were tables full of community members and leaders looking for solutions.
“We have to do more. We have to move faster. We cannot let a single day go to waste,” Mayor Craig Green
