If a band or artist is lucky, they’ll record several enduring albums. If they’re really lucky, they’ll record that one album that most everyone can agree is their masterpiece. It may not be their debut or the one that breaks them out, it might even be a few albums into their career. Led Zeppelin had IV , Fleetwood Mac had Rumours , MJ had Thriller , Def Leppard had Hysteria , Miles Davis had Kind of Blue and The Boss had…well…a few.
Let’s face it, Born to Run is probably universally held as his masterpiece, but the following two, Darkness on the Edge of Town and The River , are no slouches in the running for title of Greatest Bruce Albums. Of course you can also throw in the mammoth success of Born in the U.S.A. , as well.
