TORONTO — Preparations for the 2025 World Series got off to a rocky start after the confused players of the Toronto Blue Jays showed up to play with sticks and skates.
According to fans arriving early for the game, the Canadians arrived at Rogers Centre in full kit, only to find out with surprise that baseball doesn't require bulky shoulder pads, helmets with faceguards, or hockey sticks.
"This is the right gear, eh?" asked Blue Jays first baseman Vladimir Guerrero Jr. "What else would a true-blooded Canadian wear to play sports in? Cleats and a baseball cap? That's not going to keep you safe when a 113-kilo enforcer body-checks you into the boards."
Canadian fans were reportedly just as confused by the required attire as their team was.
