REARDAN, Wash. — A man was killed in a crash involving a garbage truck on U.S. Highway 2 just east of Reardan, according to the Washington State Patrol.
WSP says troopers responded to a head-on collision involving a car and a garbage truck around 10:30 a.m. on Friday.
WSP said the car was traveling westbound on Highway 2 and entered the eastbound lane while attempting to pass traffic. The garbage truck was traveling eastbound. WSP says the garbage truck driver slowed and moved onto the shoulder in an attempt to avoid the car, but the car crashed head-on into the truck.
WSP says both cars were engulfed in flames upon impact. The driver of the car died on the scene. WSP says the 27-year-old garbage truck driver was injured but was treated at Sacred Heart Medical Center and released.
