Community Health Systems stock elevated robustly Friday on heaving trading volume after the Franklin-based company reported third quarter earnings and revenues that surpassed analysts’ estimates.

In late-afternoon trading, the stock (ticker: CHS ) was priced at $4.06, up 24.7 percent (the equivalent hike of $0.80 per share).

As of publication time, about 8.03 million CHS shares had traded, according to Yahoo Finance. The daily average has been 1.96 million shares.

According to a company release, CHA, which owns and operates acute care hospitals, registered revenue of $3.09 billion for Q3. The Zacks Equity Research consensus estimate (of four analysts) had projected $2.99 billion, with CHS topping that mark by 3.2 percent.
