MINOT, ND (KXNET) — Quantdre Mersier, a Minot man, was sentenced today.

In 2023, Mersier was arrested for the death of Ansu Kamara. Investigators looked at and used Ring camera video to identify Mersier. He then left the state and was arrested in Indiana before being sent back to North Dakota to face trial.

After originally pleading not guilty, Mersier changed his plea to guilty in May of 2025.

He was sentenced on Friday, October 24, to 50 years in prison. However, he will only serve 23 years in prison, and once he's released, he will serve five years' probation.
