EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEVV) — The Indiana Department of Transportation is gearing up for winter with a training exercise in the southwest district on Monday, Oct. 27.
Motorists will see INDOT Southwest's fleet of yellow trucks on highways and interstates as crews test equipment and familiarize themselves with routes. The exercise will take place from 9 a.m. to noon, with trucks running their snow routes with lights on but without applying materials like salt or brine.
INDOT advises drivers to slow down and adjust to conditions on snow-covered roads.
"Don’t crowd the plow – never tailgate or drive beside a snowplow, as the driver's visibility may be limited. If you must pass, do so carefully," INDOT said.
