ESSEX, Mass. —
Essex police say a miscommunication between an officer and a driver accused of striking an 11-year-old electric scooter rider on Thursday led to a brief search for the motorist.
On Oct. 23, a silver Mercedes collided with the juvenile riding an electric scooter on Western Avenue and Pond Street.
The driver flagged down an officer in the area, but after a brief discussion, the driver left the scene, according to police.
The 11-year-old was not seriously injured.
On Friday, the driver of the Mercedes came to the police station and was cooperative, according to investigators.
No charges have been issued.
