One would think that anybody who regularly covers the MLB would know who Toronto Blue Jays catcher Alejandro Kirk is.

The 26-year-old made his MLB debut in 2020 and has played a big role for the Blue Jays since 2022. He’s been named an All Star in both 2022 and 2025 and received a Silver Slugger Award in 2022. If that weren’t enough, he was also named a Gold Glove finalist this season.

Despite his impressive career to date, however, he was seriously slighted by ESPN’s Bill Plaschke recently. Plaschke, who also writes for the Los Angeles Times , recently admitted in a World Series preview that he wasn’t aware of who Kirk was.

“They’re the most anonymous team in all of sports. I don’t know anybody who could name you their lineup,” Plaschke said. “Who’s their catcher?”
