The National Weather Service issued an updated freeze warning at 12:53 p.m. on Friday valid for Saturday between midnight and 9 a.m. for Westmoreland Ridges and Fayette Ridges as well as Beaver, Allegheny, Washington, Greene, Westmoreland and Fayette counties.
The weather service comments, "Sub-freezing temperatures as low as 29 degrees expected."
"Frost and freeze conditions could kill crops, other sensitive vegetation and possibly damage unprotected outdoor plumbing," describes the weather service. "Take steps now to protect tender plants from the cold."
