An Edinburgh flight was forced to make a mid-air diversion following an 'incident' on Friday evening.

SunExpress flight XQ3688 from Dalaman to the capital left just after 3.30pm on October 24, but instead was diverted to Izmir Adnan Menderes International Airport.

According to flight tracking site FlightRadar24, the aircraft did not issue a Squawk 7700 code which indicates a general emergency onboard and is often used when a flight has to divert.

The exact reason for the diversion has not been confirmed at this time, but it's understood the flight is due to land in Edinburgh at 11pm.

On October 24, Edinburgh Live reported SunExpress flight XQ599 from Edinburgh was set to land in Antalya on October 22 but was forced to divert to Frankfurt following a technical issue.
