The giraffes have started arriving at a zoo safari park being built in Missouri.

The Saint Louis Zoo is in the process of constructing and populating the Saint Louis Zoo WildCare Park, which will be open to the public in 2027.

The two young giraffes arrived this month from Arizona and California.

One named Mo is a 21-month-old male reticulated giraffe from Reid Park Zoo in Arizona. He arrived Oct. 11.

His name means “heart” in Swahili, because of the heart-shaped markings on his head and neck.

A few days later, Daniel, a 20-month-old reticulated giraffe from The Living Desert Zoo and Gardens in California, arrived.

The young giraffes stand at 11 and 13 feet tall but will grow more.

More giraffes are expected to move into the park within the next year with as many as 10 to 15 living there by the opening.

Other animals have already arrived as well, including five southern white rhinos.
