OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) - Interim Superintendent of Oklahoma Schools Lindel Fields said Thursday that changes are coming to Ryan Walters' controversial social studies standards.

"I think there will be some changes to them, yes," said Supt. Fields.

The statements came after the October Board of Education meeting, where the closed session had the board members discussing three different lawsuits, all focused on fighting Walters' Social Studies Standards.

The department had a deadline of October 28 for one of the lawsuits. The court required them to act on the standards in some form or another.

For now, the standards have been put on hold by the courts, and the Department of Education is asking for a longer stay to try and figure out what changes could be made.
