The Louisiana Supreme Court has suspended an Orleans Parish Civil Court judge for unethical conduct.

Judge Jennifer Medley was under investigation after complaints alleged she violated judicial ethics during her 2020 campaign. Advertisement

According to court documents, Medley made false statements in a campaign ad about an opponent. She claimed Judge Christopher Bruno was a "deadbeat dad" who had not paid child support for 13 years.

Officials said Medley also failed to report two campaign-related payments. Court records show $1,200 was sent to the producer of a campaign video. Officials said failing to report the expenditures violated campaign finance disclosure requirements.
