JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — In an update issued Friday afternoon, the Georgia Department of Human Services announced that Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits will no longer be available beginning Nov. 1 if the federal government shutdown continues.
Georgia DHS said it received a notification from the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) that there is not enough funding left to keep the federal program running into November.
Florida's official SNAP website issued a similar notice:
"If the federal government shutdown continues into November, SNAP benefits for the month of November will not be issued until federal funding is restored. You may receive notices about your eligible benefit amount, but you will not receive any benefits deposited to your EBT card during this time
