A few months ago, Trey Yesavage was pitching in the minor leagues. Now, the Pennsylvania native is set to start Game 1 of the World Series against the Los Angeles Dodgers Friday night.

Blue Jays manager John Schneider let Yesavage know on Wednesday that he was getting the ball for Game 1.

The rookie then called his girlfriend and his parents to deliver the news and make sure that they would be in attendance for the monumental moment.

“Sleep last night was not easy,” Trey Yesavage said Thursday . “Mind was just racing and I don’t know, I found a way to get some Zs but it was a little tough.”

Yesavage, a former ace for East Carolina University, started this season in Single-A for the Dunedin Blue Jays, before working his way up through the minors.
