The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development announced that two highways running through Roseland will reopen Friday evening, two months after the Smitty's Supply explosion closed them.
Sections of U.S. 51 and La. 10, which meet just north of Roseland in Tangipahoa Parish, will be reopened to traffic at 6 p.m. Friday, the department said in a release.
La. 10 will still have alternating lane closures for an undetermined amount of time, as crews work to clean ditches and other areas adjacent to the highway.
Those closures will take place between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. and will involve a flagging operation to provide access to residents. Drivers are still encouraged to take alternate routes to avoid delays.
Officials urge motorists to proceed with caution, slow down and watch
