Practice was a lot more intense this week for Central's defense this week — and it showed Friday night.
The Wildcats entered their District 4-5A matchup against high-scoring Liberty, allowing more than 33 points per game. But the defense kept the Patriots scoreless for three quarters in a dominant 49-14 victory at Olympia Stadium.
"We came out fast and physical," Central senior middle linebacker Jake Jarreau said. "We knew that this would be our game, where we would have to go out and show that we can dominate people. It made us practice harder. We knew we had to bring our game up."
Central (6-2, 2-1) held the Patriots to a season-low in points while recording a pick-six and two sacks.
