Retaliation, not escalation
Regarding the Oct. 18 news article “Would Tomahawk cruise missiles be a game changer for Ukraine?”:
The debate about whether the U.S. should send Tomahawk missiles to Ukraine neglects to consider the types of missiles Russia has been using against civilians in Ukraine for three years. The missiles perhaps most similar to the Tomahawk, which has a range of 1,000 miles, are the Kalibr (1,500 miles) and the KH-101 (2,700 miles), hundreds of which have been launched at Ukraine in the past year alone. Russia claims Tomahawks would be a major escalation toward nuclear war. Russia and policymakers in Washington need to remember that in war, what goes around comes around, and turnabout is fair play.
