SAGINAW TOWNSHIP, MI – The Michigan Department of Attorney General has cleared a Michigan State Police trooper of any wrongdoing in the fatal shooting of a Saginaw man during a hostage standoff at a Saginaw Township bank in June.

The trooper shot and killed Quentin Marquese Allen, 31, during the June 27 standoff at Mercantile Bank on State Street.

Investigators concluded the trooper acted lawfully in defense of the bank employee who was being held at gunpoint during the standoff. The trooper will not face criminal charges.

Allen allegedly entered the Saginaw Township bank branch and demanded money from the one employee, who was on the phone when Allen began making demands.

The person on the other end of the line called 911 and authorities responded.
