Cornwall council agreed to proceed full steam ahead with the city’s advocacy against the prospect of Via Rail cuts and operational changes.

In a resolution that council supported on Oct. 14 , a representative from Via Rail be invited to address council, and Mayor Justin Towndale will initiate a meeting with the president and CEO of the company.

Coun. Claude McIntosh said this meeting with Via Rail representatives would be round two in the last seven years.

“You would have be better off talking to a wall,” said McIntosh, remembering the last meeting. “They showed no interest in us at all.”
