The Limestone County Sheriff’s Office identified a suspect arrested in connection with a stabbing on Yarbrough Road in Athens.
On Thursday, deputies responded shortly before 2:30 p.m. to a 911 call about a stabbing at a home in Athens. David Ross Long, 53, of Elkmont, allegedly stabbed a victim in the abdomen during a confrontation over a theft.
Deputies set up a perimeter and located Long about half a mile away on Memory Lane. Long attempted to flee and provided a false name but was arrested without further incident. The sheriff's office says Long also had outstanding warrants.
Long faces charges including attempting to elude law enforcement, obstructing justice using a false identity, and first-degree assault. The victim is in stable condition at a hospital.
