BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — A Baton Rouge woman was charged in connection with a shooting that left a blind man injured on Sept. 8, 2025.

Hope Cornelius, 35, was charged with principals to attempted second-degree murder, and illegal use of weapons or dangerous instrumentalities.

The Baton Rouge Police Department was called around 9:30 p.m. to the City Town Meat Market, 4850 Beechwood Drive.

They proceeded to investigate a report of shots fired at this location. BRPD found 10 spent shell casings from two different guns, but no shooting victim.

Officers later found a blind man on Byron Street who had been shot in the right leg. The man stated that he was at the market when the shooting took place.
