WASHINGTON — DC Congressional Delegate Eleanor Holmes Norton was recently swindled out of over $4,000.
According to a report from DC police, the scammers showed up at the 88-year-old’s home to perform unauthorized work.
The police were later contacted when someone noticed the charges on her credit card.
Former staffer and now primary challenger for Holmes Norton’s seat, Robert White, offered a statement to WUSA9.
"As her former staffer and someone who studied and learned alongside Norton, I am deeply upset about her being defrauded by cruel people claiming to be performing work in her home,” said White.
