NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - Smiity’s Supply in Roseland is reopening. This comes two months after the factory was closed due to a large explosion fire that occurred on August 22.

The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development announced updated details Thursday on the reopening of previously closed sections of U.S. 51 and Louisiana Highway 10 in Roseland.

Starting at 6 p.m. Friday, both highways will reopen to traffic.

DOTD said LA 10 will have alternating lane closures as crews continue cleaning ditches and other areas alongside the highway. Those closures will occur mainly between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. and include flagging operations to maintain access for residents. Drivers are encouraged to use alter
