SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) -- Starting Nov. 1, some people receiving SNAP benefits will see their accounts not replenished, amid the government shutdown.

While the Food Bank of Central New York specializes in getting food out to the most vulnerable, it cannot make up for the impact that food aid provides.

Any time there are changes to SNAP, including eligibility, access, and the amount of benefits that people receive, it puts a major strain on food banks nationwide.

"For every one meal that our food bank is able to provide, SNAP provides nine," said Becky Lare, the vice president of government relations for the Food Bank of Central New York.

Lare said the food bank is pushing for local and state support ahead of November.
