SPRINGFIELD, Ore. - Springfield Public Schools participated in the Oregon Crunch at Once event on Thursday as a celebration of local agriculture during Farm to School Month.

According to the Oregon Department of Agriculture, this statewide event had students biting into Oregon-grown fruits or vegetables on Oct. 23. The Oregon Crunch at Once invited K-12 students, parents, and school partners to participate in a collective celebration of local produce. In Springfield, Ridgeview and Walterville Elementary led the countdowns.

"When we crunch together, we’re not just eating an apple—we’re supporting Oregon farmers, caring for our planet, and building stronger communities," said Rosie Lanenga, Oregon’s Kid Governor.
