GRAND LEDGE, Mich. (WLNS) — A math teacher is facing her biggest challenge yet, and it’s not preparing her students for the SATs.
Inside the class, Katie Westen is like any other high school AP pre-calculus teacher, but outside the classroom, Westen is preparing for a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity: throwing a football into a target from 15 yards in front of thousands of fans at Spartan Stadium for $1 million.
"I had been nominated and selected for the Eckrich Meet Teacher of the Year,” said Westen. “And that meant that I had the opportunity on Saturday, Oct. 25, at the Michigan-Michigan State game to throw for a million."
Westen says she gets two tries; the first throw is from 15 yards. If she hits her target, she takes home $1 million, and the money she wins will be used towards class
