COLUMBUS, Ohio -- The Ohio House of Representatives pushed through bipartisan legislation this week to regulate intoxicating hemp on the heels of Gov. Mike DeWine’s declaration of a public health emergency .

Under the bill, intoxicating hemp products -- except for beverages -- must be sold through licensed hemp dispensaries that operate under state oversight, similar to existing marijuana dispensaries. The measure would effectively end the sale of these products at gas stations, smoke shops and other establishments that allow minors to enter. These hemp dispensaries would also be prohibited from selling tobacco or nicotine products.
