TUSCALOOSA, Ala (WIAT) – The White House has selected a Tuscaloosa florist to serve as a volunteer Christmas decorator this year.

“When the White House called, we jumped for joy and screamed our heads off as soon as that happened,” Tammy West said. West started Glow Floral Event Design five years ago.

“I started my business during COVID,” West said. “The country shut down and I thought 'oh gosh, what will I do next?'”

What West did next was clear out a bedroom in her home to make room for flowers, vases, ribbon and everything in between. As other businesses struggled to survive, West’s thrived — and over the years, it grew into something she never imagined.

“We appreciate the support our community has given us, and I’m so humbled — completely humbled — by this entire experience,” West
