Pennsylvania State Police this week charged a former mayor in Perry County with more than 60 felonies after they said he sexually abused and raped a girl beginning when she was 4 years old.

State police were notified on Oct. 16 about the prolonged abuse through a ChildLine referral , according to an affidavit of probable cause written by a trooper. The following day, police interviewed the victim, who said Michael McCreary, 48, of Marysville, started molesting her when she was 4.

On Feb. 14, 2022, McCreary, who was 45 at the time, was appointed as the mayor of Marysville following the death of former Mayor Stephen Copp. McCreary’s term ended Dec. 31, 2023.
