FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Year after year, Arte Américas in Downtown Fresno features detailed and unique altars, known as ofrendas, in honor of Day of the Dead, a special weekend for millions throughout the world.

"There are all kinds of emotions that come up for people during this time of year. We make time to remember folks that are not with us," says Executive Director Arianna Paz Chávez.

This year, the theme is "Figuras Monumentales," meaning monumental figures.

When you walk through the front door, your eyes will quickly spot the creativity and diversity among the 11 altars.

Chávez says they were intentional about getting the word out to everyone during application season.
