HARRISBURG, Pa. – The federal transportation secretary sent a blistering letter this week to Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro, raising safety concerns for passengers riding SEPTA’s regional railcars and buses while blaming the governor for failing to “secure stable state funding.”

Shapiro’s response to U.S. Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy was succinct, writing on X, “If you want to be helpful here, call your fellow Republicans and tell them to bring (a funding plan) to my desk.” ×
