GREEN CHARTER TOWNSHIP — US Congressman John Moolenaar, a loud opponent of the proposed electric vehicle battery plant in Mecosta County because of Gotion’s ties to the Chinese Communist Party is reacting to what some say is the demise of the project

The future of the controversial Gotion battery plant in Mecosta County is now up in the air, after being served a default notice from the Michigan Economic Development Corporation, claiming the company abandoned the site and with no work being done in the last four months.

Gotion is losing out on $175 million in tax incentives that had been approved for the project and will be forced to repay nearly $50 million they already received.

Congressman Moolenaar, it’s good news that the state has lost confidence in the project.
