MARSHALL, Texas (KLTV) - The Nacogdoches Dragons took their five-game win streak into Marshall to face the Mavericks in a pivotal district 7-5A D2 showdown.
The Mavericks got the ball to begin the game and drove 71 yards in 10 plays to get the first score of the game. Senior Ashtin Sparks took the handoff and went 15 yards to put the Mavs on the board. Marshall led 7-0 with 9:52 left in the first quarter. On Nacogdoches’ first drive, quarterback Jaylen Garrett connected with Micah Lockett. Lockett was stripped by Marshall’s Da’Vaughn Tucker who returned it for a Mavericks’ touchdown with 8:16 to go in the quarter to put Marshall up 14-0.
