ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) - An organization run by Olympic gold-medalist and East St. Louis native Jackie Joyner-Kersee celebrated 25 years of giving back to her hometown.

Friday was the 13th annual Sequins, Suits and Sneakers gala in downtown St. Louis.

The event raises money for the foundation’s mission of promoting education and athletics in East St. Louis and surrounding areas.

The Jackie Joyner-Kersee Foundation is now working to grow its East St. Louis campus to include a new innovation center, athletic fields and a state-of-the-art indoor track and field house.
