GREENVILLE, N.C. (WITN) - On Friday, the City of Greenville marked the completion of its nearly $50 million BUILD grant project, celebrating with a ceremony and ribbon cutting downtown.

The city had applied for the grant administered by the U.S. Department of Transportation in July 2019, and was notified of the award in November of 2019.

“Sometimes people forget what it used to look like. If you look at a before and after photo, you can really appreciate it,” Troy Dreyfus, Executive Director for the Downtown Greenville Partnership, said.

“But a majority of the work you don’t see. It was all the utilities that needed to be upgraded, the drainage, the sewage, those types of things. But since that had to be tore up, we used that as an opportunity for brand new sidewalks, brand new landscap
