NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — We’ve got an active weekend ahead, with two rounds of storms likely to move through the area between Saturday afternoon and early Sunday morning. The first batch looks to arrive Saturday afternoon and evening from the west, but that round shouldn’t be too intense — some gusty winds or a brief downpour possible, but the main line should weaken as it moves east.
The second round comes in late Saturday night into early Sunday morning, and that’s the one to watch more closely. Conditions will be a little more unstable by then, with enough wind shear to support some stronger storms. Damaging wind gusts will be the main concern, but a few brief tornadoes can’t be ruled out, especially west of I-55. Rain could also fall quickly at times, leading to some ponding or minor stre
