A woman was beaten to death by her nephew on Friday in Jasapur village of Kanpur Dehat district after he allegedly attacked her while intoxicated, police said.

The victim, identified as Mohini, had returned to her native village with her husband Raju from Jaipur to celebrate Diwali. According to officials, her nephew Krishna arrived home drunk after midnight and began abusing her. When Mohini objected, he allegedly attacked her with a stick, killing her on the spot.

Upon receiving information, police arrived at the scene, but Krishna had already fled. Mohini’s body was sent for post-mortem.
