Five people were killed and two others severely injured after a speeding SUV rammed a group of pedestrians standing by the roadside in Uttar Pradesh’s Agra on Friday, police said.
The accident occurred around 8:30 pm in the Nagla Budhi area when the SUV, reportedly travelling at high speed, hit seven people before colliding with a divider and somersaulting twice. The impact left the vehicle mangled and several victims dead instantly.
According to police, the car was being driven by Anshu Gupta, a resident of the city’s Dayalbagh locality. After the crash, locals surrounded the driver and handed him over to police upon their arrival.
The deceased include four men and one woman, police said. All but one have been identified. The bodies have been sent to a government hospital for post-mort
