Suffolk County police detectives are investigating the sexual assault of a woman inside her Holbrook home Friday morning.

A 74-year-old woman was seated on the couch in her apartment when a man entered her home through a window, police said in a news release. The man "physically and sexually assaulted her sometime between 6:15 a.m. and 7:15 a.m.," police said.

After the man fled the scene, the woman dialed 911 and was taken to a hospital, police said.

When reached by telephone late Friday, a Suffolk County Police Department spokesperson declined to name the apartment complex in which the assault occurred.
