The Nelson Hawks checked off another box on the way to becoming a serious Class 6A championship contender on Friday, defeating Central Catholic 26-6 in a surprisingly one-sided game that halted the Rams’ Mt. Hood Conference winning streak at 39 games .

Nelson (7-1) beat Central Catholic (6-2) for the first time in the program’s five-year existence and can wrap up a first-ever league title next week at Clackamas.
